Group booking for small groups of six people. You can choose between our three projects fireside tools, blade smithing and axe making. We have had lots of groups at the forge over the years. Old friends meeting up from around the world. Families booking in to have a cosy day. Work colleagues meeting up for team building or simply to have a treat.
The forge is great, as there is no telling who might be good at this old craft – it’s a great leveler. It’s usually quite a different environment to what most people are used to. This tends to promote a nice bit of madness and fun in a group, it’s a good laugh!
Getting closer as a Team
Simon Elliott of Volkswagen Group Ireland spent a day at the forge in 2013 with his management team. Here is what he said: ‘We needed something really different and rewarding for our small team of four and The Forge was absolutely perfect, we worked together, not even thinking of our mobile phones and got much closer as a team as a result. The reward at the end was perfect in every way, and we still revert back to it many weeks later.’
Anyone who can lift a Hammer
We have had fabulous feedback over the years. Just look at our testimonials page. As John said after a day of forging fireside tools: ‘My right arm felt like Usain Bolts leg after a race, from the amount of hammering I did! But it was worth it. I would recommend your course to anyone who can lift a hammer.’
Russborough House, Cafe and Artisans
There are excellent facilities at Russborough where our forge is based. It’s a 3 minute walk to the cafe. You can also take a guided house tour or explore the surrounding woodland walks. If you are interested in crafts there are excellent open studios around our forge. There’s a stonemason, ceramicist, weaver, bog oak sculptor and candle maker. http://www.russborough.ie/
