'Invictus' is Latin for unconquerable, invincible, undefeated. It is also the title of a much quoted poem by English poet William Ernest Henley (1849–1903) This poem - to me - describes the importance of steering one's own fate. Here an extract: 'Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be, For my unconquerable soul'.... 'I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul'
